Senior Engineering Tutor
Roger gained an apprenticeship as a fitter turner when leaving school at sixteen. He had a four year apprenticeship with GEC where he spent the first year at their specialist training facility. On completing his apprenticeship, Roger began working in the drawing office producing detailed technical drawings for tools, jigs and fixtures.
He moved into CAD/CAM as the technology became available and continued to produce drawings for various companies. Before leaving industry to join the teaching profession, Roger made the move into management within the production engineering companies he worked for.
When he joined the Swale Skills Centre in February 2009, Roger spent two years gaining a teaching qualification whilst teaching both workshop and classroom lessons. He developed our CAD and CNC facilities until they were industry standard and spearheaded the setting up and running of the Caterham car project.
Roger is currently the lead tutor for CAD/ CAM and CNC.
