Like many of our students, Clayton started his working life as a Toolmaker serving a five year apprenticeship and went on to spend a total of 22 years working successfully in the engineering industry. His passion for new technologies in precision engineering led Clayton to enter the world of education, where he became a full-time teacher and lecturer, leading our engineering and design technology departments.
This provided the springboard for Clayton’s vision to create a bespoke, accessible engineering training facility in Swale and working with the Sittingbourne Community College, KCC and a range of other stakeholders, he was closely involved with the establishment of the Swale Skills Centre.
Clayton went on to develop his leadership career and profile whilst completing an MA in leadership and management for learning. His return to the Skills Centre brings a range of experience in both industry and education and he uses this to ensure that local industry is well supported.
Clayton is confident that our learners are well trained, mature adults who are committed and ready for the world of work.
